October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Breast cancer is the second leading cancer in women. According to gov., 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer. Survival of breast cancer is possible if the cancer is detected early. Talk to your doctor or other qualified health care provider about self breast exams, clinical breast exams and mammograms. Mammograms are recommended every 1-2 years, depending on your risk factors and age.

Signs and symptoms include
• Palpable painless, hard lump or mass
• Swelling of all or part of a breast (even if no distinct lump is felt)
• Skin irritation or dimpling
• Breast or nipple pain
• Nipple retraction (turning inward)
• Redness, scaliness, or thickening of the nipple or breast skin
• A nipple discharge other than breast milk
